Will returning to my old job look like I’m crawling back?

About six months ago I left a very comfortable job at a second-tier company to take a good position (although for lower pay) at the leader in my highly competitive industry. The new place has been a great disappointment. My department is badly run, top management does not seem to care and my new colleagues are not very friendly.

Now I hear that my old boss is anxious to get me back. I’m tempted to see if he is serious, but that might seem like crawling back. Besides, I don’t want to be too hasty. After all, it takes time to be accepted into a successful team.

Senior manager, male, mid-50s
