The other day I received an intriguing email: “Can you endorse James as a Wag! dog walker?” I was surprised on several counts. For one thing, my friend James is not actually a dog lover; indeed, he is somewhat intimidated by my own pooch Charlie (an exuberant golden retriever who tends to jump).
More importantly, I have never been asked to rate a friend’s dog-walking skills before – let alone to do so online. However, as it happens, James is an entrepreneur. Always on the lookout for the next big idea, he had recently stumbled on the app Wag! and decided to research how it works.
The LA-based company, which currently only operates in the US, connects dog owners with potential dog walkers – but wannabe walkers must first give the email addresses of six bona fide dog-owning friends who can testify to their canine credentials.
