Should I take the money on offer to leave my job?

I am dithering wildly over whether to take voluntary redundancy. I’m being offered a large sum that, with my pension, would mean I could just about survive even if I never got another job. I don’t dislike my work, though find it increasingly boring. In theory, I like the idea of escape but have no idea what I’d do and am not ready to spend the rest of my life pruning roses. So should I stay or take the plunge and the money – which I doubt will ever again be offered in such large quantity?
