Uber said on Tuesday that co-founder Travis Kalanick would leave the board at the end of the month to focus on his new business and philanthropy.
His departure from the ride-hailing group he set up in 2009 comes after he sold the remainder of his stake in the company, which went public in May.
“Uber has been a part of my life for the past 10 years,” Mr Kalanick said in a statement. “At the close of the decade, and with the company now public, it seems like the right moment for me to focus on my current business and philanthropic pursuits . . . I will continue to cheer for its future from the sidelines.”
