Didi Chuxing, the Chinese ride-hailing app, has branched out into financial services as new regulations threaten to cut the number of available drivers.
Didi’s financial services, including motor insurance, personal loans and a crowdfunded medical insurance product, were added to its ride-hailing app yesterday as well as a separate “Didi Finance” app.
Didi’s move to diversify comes after a difficult six months in which two passengers were murdered, forcing the company to suspend its “Hitch” carpooling platform.
