Apple self-driving car secrets allegedly stolen

A former Apple employee has been accused by US authorities of stealing trade secrets about the company’s self-driving car project, according to a criminal complaint filed in California.

Xiaolang Zhang, who joined Apple in December 2015, was arrested by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents on July 7 as he attempted to board a flight to China, according to the court filing.

Mr Zhang had worked for Apple on a project to “develop software and hardware for use in autonomous vehicles”, the filing said, and had designed and tested circuit boards to analyse sensor data.
