Audi is preparing to more than double car production in China to 700,000 vehicles a year as the Volkswagen-owned luxury brand unveiled plans to build a second factory to serve the fast-growing Chinese car market.
Audi said it would begin production in 2013 at a new 100-hectare plant in the southern city of Foshan, which will manufacture up to 200,000 vehicles per year.
VW’s joint venture with its Chinese partner FAW is set to invest about €3bn in China in over the next five years in Audi products, production and sales.
