Anti-capitalist protests face global eviction as authorities take action

Authorities around the world have begun moving against anti-capitalist groups as police in the US and Switzerland cleared protest camps from their cities.

Following police action in New York and Oakland, California, as well as in Zurich, the City of London Corporation relaunched legal action against the protesters camped outside St Paul’s Cathedral.

Jean Quan, mayor of Oakland, told the BBC that the leaders of 18 US cities targeted by the “Occupy” movement had discussed how to respond.
