Schive Chi, Taiwan Stock Exchange chairman, sees little chance of consolidation among Asian exchanges creating a regional powerhouse that would threaten his bourse.
The prospect of the Taiwan Stock Exchange losing listings and business to a larger, more sophisticated pan-Asian exchange “depends on the assumption that there would be successful mergers within east Asia,” Mr Schive says in an interview.
It is a premise that Mr Schive dismisses because Asian exchanges face tighter regulatory control and are more fragmented than their European and American counterparts.
