STRIKES DENT HONDA SALES IN CHINA

Sales of Honda cars in China fell for a second consecutive month in June in spite of its rivals' continued growth, after labour unrest at its parts suppliers halted production at some of the Japanese carmaker's assembly plants in the world's largest car-buying market.

Overall sales of passenger cars in China rose by almost a fifth last month from a year ago, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

However, Honda said yesterday that sales had fallen 2.7 per cent from June last year to 50,113 units, following a 10.3 per cent decline in May.
