China has hit back at accusations from the British government that Beijing blocked the approval of a stronger agreement at the Copenhagen climate change talks.
Jiang Yu, a spokeswoman for the Chinese foreign ministry, said that comments made by Ed Miliband, the UK minister for climate change and the environment, were designed to provoke disagreement between developing countries.
“The statements from certain British politicians are plainly a political scheme,” she said in a statement issued by the official Xinhua news agency.
