Former US president’s political action committees receive fewer contributions in second quarter

Donald Trump’s fundraising slowed in the second quarter of the year amid signs that some Republican donors are backing other candidates in the party.

Political action committees supporting the former president, including Save America and Make America Great Again, Again!, ended June with $133.2mn on hand, down from $146mn at the end of March.

The PACs spent more in the second quarter than they did during the previous three months: $40.3mn compared with $37.6mn. However, during the April to June period, the groups received $17.9mn in contributions — down from $23.4mn in the first quarter.
