Cathay sees few passengers amid ‘small positive signs’

Hong Kong-based airlines Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon carried just 18,473 passengers last month, a 99.4 per cent decrease over May 2019.

The two airlines delivered 98,710 tonnes of cargo and mail last month, a 41.3 per cent drop over the year-earlier month.

“Although there have been some small positive signs, such as the ban on transit traffic through Hong Kong International Airport beginning to ease, the future remains very uncertain,” said Ronald Lam, Cathay Pacific Group’s chief customer and commercial officer, in a statement on Friday.
