Trade truce: will China lower tariffs on US cars?

After announcing a 90-day deadline for a new round of trade talks with China, Donald Trump tweeted that Beijing would “reduce and remove” tariffs on US-made cars and “immediately” resume large-scale purchases of US agricultural products.

The Chinese government, however, has not acknowledged the three-month talks deadline, after which the US president has said he would impose tariff hikes originally scheduled for January 1. Nor has Beijing confirmed any moves related to auto tariffs or agricultural purchases.
