Dolce & Gabbana accused of racism over China ad campaign

Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana is facing accusations of racism in China over an online advertisement in which a Chinese model attempts to eat an oversized cannolo with chopsticks.

The ad threatens to damage D&G’s reputation in the world’s largest luxury market. A company fashion show scheduled for Wednesday evening in Shanghai was cancelled after models and celebrities threatened a boycott.

The ad — in which a narrator asks “Is it still too big for you?” — is the second in a three-part series labelled #DGLovesChina that also features the same model eating spaghetti and pizza.
