Christine Blasey Ford told a Senate inquiry she was “100 per cent” certain that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was the man who attacked her at a 1980s high-school party in gripping testimony that could determine the balance of the US’s highest court for decades.
A composed but sometimes tearful Ms Ford said she was “terrified” appearing before the Senate’s judiciary committee as she recounted a 36-year-old ordeal that has haunted her into middle age: Mr Kavanaugh’s alleged attempt to rape her as a friend looked on.
“Indelible in the [brain] is the laughter, the uproarious laughter between the two,” recalled Ms Ford, now a psychology professor in California.
