China now has more than 800m internet users, 788m of whom access the web via mobile devices including smartphones, according to the latest government statistics from the China Internet Network Information Center. At 802m, the total figure is more than the number of US and Indian users combined, illustrating the allure of China as a lucrative market for foreign tech groups despite its stringent censorship requirements.
