North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Friday walked across the military demarcation line dividing the two Koreas to be greeted by South Korean president Moon Jae-in for the first inter-Korean summit in over a decade, a meeting aimed at ending decades of conflict.
He became the first North Korean leader to set foot on South Korean soil since the Korean peninsula was divided into two countries after the 1950-53 Korean war.
Bespectacled Mr Kim, in his trademark black Mao suit, expressed hope for opening a new chapter in the history of the divided peninsula.
