President Donald Trump has dissolved two high-profile business advisory groups after a spate of departures and a warning that one of the bodies was about to disband in protest at his reaction to far-right violence in Charlottesville.
The president said on Twitter that he would wind up both his manufacturing and jobs council and his strategy and policy forum, “rather than putting pressure on the businesspeople” involved.
Several members of both forums stepped down following Mr Trump’s response to protests by white supremacist acts of violence in Virginia over the weekend.
