Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe plans to meet Donald Trump in New York on November 17th, his office said on Thursday.
During a 20 minute phone-call with president-elect Trump, the two men agreed on a meeting when Mr Abe is en route to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum meeting in Peru later this month, writes Robin Harding in Tokyo.
According to the prime minister’s office, Mr Trump said the US-Japan relationship was an “excellent partnership” and he wanted to further strengthen the “special relationship” between the two countries.
