Investors have been warned to mind the banana skins in the Chinese year of the monkey, which kicks off next week and is expected to bring a rollercoaster ride for Hong Kong shares.
At least, that is the forecast according to brokerage CLSA in its annual Feng Shui index, an irreverent look at what the new year will bring for markets and a handful of well-known global personalities.
The monkey, says CLSA, is “loved for his human-like antics and disliked for his lack of social grace and unpredictability” — at least part of which may also ring true for investors in China’s markets.
