The Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its contribution to the country’s transition to democracy in the wake of the Arab spring.
The little-known group won out over a long list of famous names, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Pope Francis.
The Dialogue, formed in 2013, was a key player in aiding Tunisia’s political transition, helping to ratify a new constitution and set up its electoral commission.
