The Hong Kong financial regulator has clarified that it has launched a formal investigation into Hanergy Thin Film Power Group, the solar power company whose breakneck growth raised strong questions as it briefly made founder Li Hejun China's richest man.
While it is extremely rare for the Securities and Futures Commission to comment on individual, ongoing cases, the regulator said in a very brief statement on its website:
The SFC wishes to clarify that a formal investigation into the affairs of Limited has been active and is continuing.
