Indonesia ‘95% certain’ to have found missing AirAsia jet

Indonesian search and rescue teams hunting a missing airliner have found debris thought to be from AirAsia Flight QZ8501, which disappeared from radar screens early on Sunday morning.

Officials said on Tuesday afternoon that Indonesian military aircraft had spotted several objects floating in the sea near the last point of contact with the AirAsia aircraft. The head of the country’s search and rescue agency said he was “95 per cent certain” the debris had come from the missing jet.

“The 5 per cent left is because at this moment, I haven’t seen it directly,” FH Bambang Sulistyo said, according to a Bloomberg report.
