Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect to launch Nov 17

The delayed but hotly anticipated cross-border trading link connecting Shanghai and Hong Kong is now set to launch on November 17, marking the start of one of China’s most significant moves to open its capital account in years and putting to rest market fears the scheme was set for lengthy delays.

The Hong Kong-Shanghai Stock Connect will for the first time allow international investors direct access to Shanghai stocks . Under the programme mainland investors will also be able to trade Hong Kong-listed companies directly.

The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing confirmed the date in a regulatory filing on Monday, adding:
