Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 almost certainly crashed in eastern Ukraine after suffering structural damage in midair caused by "a large number of high energy objects that penetrated the aircraft from the outside", according to the first official report into the crash.
The findings are consistent with the type of damage that would be caused by an advanced ground to air missile but the preliminary report stops short of concluding the Boeing 777 was shot down, reports Mark Odell.
The report by a team of Dutch air accident investigators is the first official one into the crash of the aircraft on July 17, which was on a flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. All 298 people on board were killed.
