Airline industry pledges to never ‘let another aircraft vanish’

The world’s airlines have pledged to “never let another aircraft vanish” as they laid out plans to ensure that aircraft in flight can be properly tracked to avoid a repeat of the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

In a sign of how the industry seeks to learn lessons from the disaster, the International Air Transport Association on Tuesday said it would create a “task force” to examine the options available for tracking commercial aircraft. Conclusions would be published by December.

The development came as Malaysia released an official transcript of the last words spoken in the cockpit, saying there was “no indication of anything abnormal”.
