Growth in China’s factory output, retail sales and electricity production accelerated slightly in April providing a small measure of comfort to officials but leaving analysts worried that rapid expansion in the world’s second-largest economy is faltering.
Chinese industrial output increased 9.3 per cent in April from a year earlier, up from an 8.9 per cent increase in March, according to data published on Monday by China’s National Bureau of Statistics.
But the uptick was less than many in the market had predicted and was not enough to convince most analysts that Chinese growth is about to come roaring back.
