Global fur sales are at a record high thanks to burgeoning demand from consumers in east Asia.
Sales of fur clothing and accessories have more than tripled in China, Japan and Korea over the past decade and rose 5 per cent to $5.6bn in the 12 months to April 2012, according to figures from the International Fur Trade Federation.
Despite stagnant economic growth, sales of luxury goods have fared relatively well since the financial crisis, buoyed by demand from newly wealthy consumers in economies such as Russia and China.
