A growing number of US equity investors and dealers are choosing the dark side of trading, turning away from public venues such as the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq.
With a record of nearly 40 per cent of all trades taking place in the dark, or away from exchanges, these once-dominant institutions say the rise of private trading is harming the sanctity of US capital markets.
