Taiwan ex-president indicted for graft

Taiwanese prosecutors have indicted former president Lee Teng-hui, the state’s first democratically elected leader, on corruption charges.

Wellington Koo, a lawyer representing Mr Lee, said the former president insisted he was innocent and would fight the charges in court. “He has not pocketed a cent,” Mr Koo said.
