Buffett admits to mishandling Sokol affair

Warren Buffett used Saturday’s annual gathering of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders to address concerns about his judgment in the David Sokol affair, issuing a mea culpa to the investors packed into the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

“I obviously made a big mistake not saying, ‘well, when did you buy it?’,” said Mr Buffett of the failure to press Mr Sokol for details of his ownership of Lubrizol stock while discussing it as a potential takeover target.

Then on Sunday he dismissed an attack from David Sokol’s lawyer, Barry Levine of Dickstein Shapiro, that he flip-flopped in the treatment of his former lieutenant.
