South Korea’s foreign minister yesterday publicly blamed North Korea for torpedoing one of its warships, which sank on March 26 with the loss of 46 lives.
His comments came as Seoul prepared to make its formal response today to the incident, which has seriously strained relations between the old enemies.
Yu Myung-hwan said it was “obvious” North Korea had sunk the Cheonan and that there was enough evidence to take the incident to the United Nations. He was speaking ahead of the release today of a multinational investigation into the cause of the sinking.
