Trump’s doctor says he could be out of hospital on Monday

Medical team prompts questions by revealing president is receiving treatment intended for severe Covid cases

Donald Trump could be discharged from hospital on Monday, his doctors said, after a weekend of mixed messages from the White House concerning the president’s health after he was admitted to Walter Reed on Friday with Covid-19.

Sean Conley, the White House physician overseeing the medical team treating Mr Trump, on Sunday said they were pleased with his progress: “The president has continued to improve,” said Dr Conley.

However, he sparked fresh questions about whether he was providing a full picture after acknowledging that Mr Trump’s oxygen levels had dropped twice over three days and noting that at one point he had required supplementary oxygen.
