Scottish court refuses to ease PM’s pressure over Benn act

The highest civil court in Scotland yesterday kept alive a legal effort to ensure Boris Johnson abides by the law that forced him to seek a Brexit delay.

The decision by three judges of the Edinburgh Court of Session’s higher Inner House means continuing pressure on the prime minister to follow the so-called Benn act.

UK government lawyers had sought to bring an end to the case, which leaves a legal sword of Damocles hanging over Mr Johnson as he fights to en­sure the UK leaves the EU on October 31.
