Brian Krzanich, chief executive of Intel, has been forced to resign after it emerged that he did not disclose an affair with an employee, which was against company policy at the world’s largest chipmaker.
The abrupt departure has cast a new spotlight on sexual mores at senior executive levels at a time when the behaviour of men in powerful corporate positions has been under the spotlight
“Intel was recently informed that Mr Krzanich had a past consensual relationship with an Intel employee,” the company said in a statement. The affair occurred “some time back”, according to a person familiar with the company’s investigation, though it is unclear it if took place before Mr Krzanich became CEO five years ago.
