Didi Chuxing, China’s international challenger to Uber, has announced it is designing autonomous and new-energy cars with an alliance of 31 partners with the aim of turning global car owners into car users.
Partners in the Didi Auto Alliance include Chinese carmakers such as Geely, BYD and SAIC, as well as international brands such as Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi, and Toyota and Volkswagen’s China units. The announcement follows a series of partnerships with carmakers over the past year.
Didi’s alliance plans to roll out its first car model, the D1, in the next three to five years.
