The lawsuit filed by porn actress Stormy Daniels against Donald Trump has all the hallmarks of a soap opera drama. But the case carries significant risk for the president, too.
Ms Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, sued the president in a California court last week to lift a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that she claims is invalid because the president did not sign it.
Ms Clifford claims she received $130,000 part of the agreement in October 2016, shortly before the presidential election, after attempting to speak to the media about an affair with Mr Trump she says began in 2006 and continued into 2007, according to the lawsuit. The White House has denied Mr Trump had an affair with Ms Clifford.
