On Tuesday, Mr Kushner reportedly had his security clearance downgraded following a ruling by John Kelly, Mr Trump’s chief of staff. The president had said last week that he would let Mr Kelly decide on the matter.
The Washington Post also reported that at least four countries had privately discussed ways they could “manipulate” Mr Kushner, who had only an interim security clearance.
While White House officials played down the impact of the decision, former government officials say it will limit Mr Kushner’s access to the president’s daily intelligence briefings.
