North Korea and South Korea have agreed to hold high-level talks next week amid signs of warming relations on the peninsula.
The talks will focus on Pyongyang’s potential participation in the Winter Olympics in South Korea next month – an event that Seoul hopes will contribute to peace in a region that has been wracked with tensions in recent months.
The decision to hold talks comes shortly after the US and South Korea agreed to postpone annual military exercises until after the Olympics.
