Donald Trump is expected to meet with Janet Yellen this week as the president considers whom to appoint as Federal Reserve chair when her term expires, according to people familiar with the situation.
The president has already interviewed Stanford University academics John Taylor and Kevin Warsh, as well as Jay Powell, a current Fed governor. The interview with Ms Yellen may come on Thursday.
Ms Yellen said at her last press conference on September 20 that she had met with Mr Trump early in his term but not since then. She was recently reported as having breakfast with Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter.
