Price of classic Ferraris slips, while Mercedes races ahead

Despite recent record auction prices, investors in classic and rare Ferraris have seen the value of their cars slip by 4 per cent since the start of the year.

According to the Historic Automobile Group International, which tracks the investment value of a range of classic cars, Mercedes-Benz owners are the winners so far this year, having seen their investment increase by almost 5 per cent.

August proved a quiet month, with the values of most marques remaining relatively static. Classic Porsches rose slightly, up by 0.78 per cent, while the value of Mercedes-Benz slipped slightly over August, down by 1.12 per cent.
