Sir David Tang, the bon vivant, luxury goods entrepreneur and Financial Times columnist, has died at the age of 63.
Tang, who was born in Hong Kong and educated in Britain, was best known as the founder of fashion label Shanghai Tang, which he sold to Swiss luxury goods group Richemont in 1998.
The cigar smoking teetotaller founded the China Club in Hong Kong, Beijing and Singapore. He was also the FT’s Agony Uncle, answering questions on topics from architecture to gardens and modern etiquette.
