China’s Communist party has launched a mass campaign for members to hand-copy its constitution — even as the less loyal face a tightening of discipline and a clampdown on non-payment of dues.
Party members enlisted for the copying campaign are handed a copy book emblazoned with an orange-tinted image of the Great Wall and lines on the front to fill in their names and work units. In one book seen by the Financial Times, each page of text faced a page of blank lines for the faithful to copy the constitution’s 53 articles.
Some work units are outdoing themselves to show their loyalty and enthusiasm, posting the completed copy books on to their social media accounts.
