Takata chief set to quit after airbag recall crisis

Shigehisa Takada, the reclusive chief executive of Takata, is set to be ousted as the Japanese car component maker seeks to win financial assistance from automakers to weather a massive recall crisis.

Mr Takada, the grandson of the company’s founder, is now open to resigning after he met with executives of automakers on Friday, according to people familiar with the matter.

It was not immediately clear when he would resign and whether a successor has been chosen. Takata declined to comment.
