China's small caps fall 7% after GDP report

So much for improving fundamentals helping the Chinese stock market recover its poise.

Small cap stocks in China fell more than 7 per cent in afternoon trading, snapping a four-day winning streak after China published a second-quarter GDP report saying that growth held steady in the second quarter.

Analysts at HSBC had hoped last week that a recovery in the real economy would help stocks come back from a 30 per cent sell-off.
