‘Buy one, get free chickens’ as developers resort to gimmicks

China’s slumping property market has prompted some innovative marketing stunts from developers desperate to sell in the traditionally booming months of September and October.

Real estate has been the most important sector in the Chinese economy since the 2008 global financial crisis, and the market’s decline since the start of this year has led to a broader slowdown in investment and factory output , raising fears of a much bigger crash in the world’s second-largest economy.
