Knife-wielding attackers injured six people at a railway station in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on Tuesday, the third such incident in recent months.
Xinhua, China’s official news agency, said the attack occurred at 11.30am at Guangzhou train station, one of the main stations in the capital of the manufacturing province of Guangdong.
Local police said the Weibo microblog service that they had shot and subdued one suspect, but did not provide any more detail about the incident or possible motives. There have been two other attacks at stations in recent months, which Beijing has described as terrorism.
