New York Times to allow advertisers tell own stories

The New York Times is to offer “native ads”, or articles and videos created for advertisers, with the relaunch of its website.

The controversial promotions that blur the line between editorial and advertising will appear on the homepage and other areas of the site.

The newsroom will not be involved in their creation, and the publisher is taking steps to alert readers that the advertorials are marketing, not journalism.
