Sinai killings fuel Israel concerns

Suspected Islamist militants ambushed and killed 25 Egyptian police officers in northern Sinai yesterday, adding to fears that spiralling violence in the Arab world’s most populous nation will spill into Israel.

Since the ousting of Egypt’s Islamist government last month, Israel has been discreetly stepping up co-operation with the Egyptian military to contain the extremist threat from Sinai, according to Israeli officials and analysts.
